Providence, RI – The Wagner College men's basketball team fell 86-52 at Big East member Providence on Tuesday night.
Junior
Melvin Council Jr. once again led the Seahawks with 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench, while junior
Zaire Williams added 12 points.
The Seahawks battled early on, as baskets by junior
Tahron Allen and Council kept the Green and White within range of the Friars midway through the first half.
Providence, however, closed out the first half on a 13-1 run to take a 38-20 lead at the midway point. The Friars were led by Davonta Gaines' 21 points, while Bryce Hopkins added 20 points.
Wagner's best scoring run of the game came in the second half and was capped by five straight points by Williams, but it wasn't enough, as the Friars earned the victory.
Wagner will close out its three-game road trip on Saturday, December 2, at Stony Brook. Tip-off between the Seahawks and Seawolves is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
