Women’s Basketball Wraps Up Four-Game Road Trip At Northeastern

Boston, MA - The Wagner College women's basketball team will travel to Northeastern on Tuesday, tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm.

Last TIme Out
Wagner dropped its third consecutive road non-conference game to begin the season with an 80-36 loss at NJIT on November 18.

Junior Semie Brar led the way for Wagner with nine points and three steals. Graduate student Taleah Washington chipped in five rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the contest.

Defense Continues To Impress
Wagner ranks 44th in the nation and first in the Northeast Conference (NEC) with 11.7 steals per game. The Seahawks also rank 121st nationally in three-point percentage defense while holding opponents to 26.8 percent.

Junior Rakisha Ballinger's 3.3 steals per contest ranks 40th in the nation and first in the NEC. Ballinger's 10 total steals ranks 72nd in the nation and tied for first in the NEC.

Relentless On The Boards

Wagner ranks 141st in the nation with 13.3 offensive rebounds per contest while ranking first in the NEC. 

Freshman Kiera Edmonds is averaging 7.7 rebounds per game, which ranks first in the NEC. Wagner's 37 rebounds per game is tops in the NEC.


Road Trip Coming To An End
Following its contest with Northeastern, Wagner will return to the Spiro Sports Center for its home opener on Monday November 27 against Iona.

The Seahawks opened this season with four consecutive road games, the most since 2020-21 when Wagner opened the season with seven consecutive home games.

The Series

This is the first time the Seahawks and Huskies will face off.

Scouting Northeastern

Northeastern welcomes Wagner sporting a 3-1 overall record. In their last contest, the Huskies defeated Merrimack, 57-48.

Wagner will be the third and final NEC opponent Northeastern will face off against this season. The Huskies earned a 73-61 win at Stonehill to open the season.

The Huskies were picked third in the CAA preseason poll as guards Derin Erdogan and Gemima Motema earned All-CAA pre- season honors. Erdogan was named First Team All-CAA last season after scoring in double-digits 28 times last season.


What's Next
Wagner will play its first home game of the season on Monday, November 27 when they welcome Iona to the Spiro Sports Center, tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
