Hempstead, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team will travel to Hofstra on Sunday, tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.

Last Time Out
Wagner opened its 2023-24 season with a non-conference loss at Rutgers on Thursday, November 9, 86-43.

Junior Rakisha Ballinger led the way offensively for Wagner with 12 points on 5-11 shooting from the floor. Ballinger also tallied five steals in the contest. Classmate Paige Lyons also notched five steals while recording seven points.

Last Time Against Hofstra
The Seahawks defeated the Pride 76-68 on November 26, 2022 at the Spiro Sports Center. Wagner shot 4-6 from three-point range in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. As a team, the Green & White shot 47.3% from the floor.

This is the second time the Seahawks and Pride will square off as Wagner will be seeking its second consecutive victory.

NEC Preseason Poll
The Seahawks were picked in the top-three in the Northeast Conference (NEC) preseason poll for the third consecutive season.

Wagner was picked behind Sacred Heart and Merrimack, Sacred Heart was the unanimous choice by the NEC coaches to repeat as NEC champions.

Defensive DNA
Wagner picked up right where they left off last season after tallying 15 steals at Rutgers. Last season, the Seahawks ranked 52nd nationally with 9.4 steals per game.

About Hofstra
The Pride opened their 2023-24 season with a 72-44 loss at VCU on November 7. Sorelle ineza led the way for the Pride with 14 points as Emma Von Essen tallied 11 points in the loss.

The Pride were picked 13th in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) preseason poll.

Hofstra returns CAA All-Defensive Team member Rosi Nicholson while gaining graduate transfer Brandy Thomas from LIU. Thomas was an All-NEC First Team member last season.
