Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College field hockey team earned its third consecutive victory with a 3-2 Northeast Conference (NEC) win over Rider.
The Seahawks opened the scoring 2:52 into the contest as junior Emma Lofstedt found Shaelyn Kobrynich in front of the net. The Green & White were able to hold a 1-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
Wagner tallied another goal 2:36 into the second quarter as graduate student Madison Hoskins was able to find the net. The goal from Hoskins was assisted by Sophie Giltrap as Wagner took a 2-0 lead into the second half. Wagner tallied two shots in the first half but both were able to find the back of the net on both chances.
Rider cut into the lead 5:33 into the third quarter as Valeria Perales made the score 2-1 heading into the fourth quarter. Perales tallied her second goal of the game in the fourth quarter with 5:32 remaining to tie the game at two.
Wagner was able to take a 3-2 lead one minute later as Emma Lofstedt tallied the game-winning goal. Lofstedt's goal was assisted by Shaelyn Kobrynich.
The Seahawks will wrap up the regular season at Stonehill on Friday, October 27 at 1:00 pm. Wagner will enter the final game of the regular season with a 3-3 mark in NEC play. If the Seahawks earn a victory at Stonehill, they will clinch a berth to the NEC Tournament for the third consecutive season.
