Cambridge, MA - The Wagner College men's water polo team traveled to Cambridge, MA for the Harvard Invite from Saturday, October 14, to Sunday, October 15.
During the two-day tournament, the Seahawks faced-off against Connecticut College and the University of Merced on Saturday, and then #19 Harvard and Iona to round out day two of competition.

Game 1 Results: Wagner 21 - Connecticut College 4
Wagner would score seven goals from six different Seahawks in the first frame alone. Sophomore Laszlo Strasser, junior Mattia Bognolo, junior Kristian Stanczewski, and senior Ryan Laniera all chipped in one each during the first quarter. Junior Dylan Egan scored his third of the season during the frame, and junior Kyle Chambers would put away two goals during the period. After two quarters of play, Wagner would extend their lead to 15-2. Seven different Seahawks would score in the second frame. Strasser, Egan, and Bognolo would add their second of the game, Chambers his third, while sophomore Eliot Alvarez, sophomore Ryan Kerry, would add their first of the games. Freshman Vince Varga would put away two goals in the second quarter as well.

The Seahawks would outscore the Camels 3-1 in the third. Kerry found his second goal during the frame, Varga his third, with junior Bendert Jansen finding the back of the net for the first time this season with 1:21 left in the quarter. Going into the final frame, Wagner led 18-3. The Seahawks would score three more goals to Connecticut College's one, to end with a score of 21-4. Kerry completed a hat-trick during the quarter, while Chambers scored his fourth of the game, and freshman Patrick Ray added his own during the final frame. The Green & White would pour in a season-high 21 goals.Â

Game 2 Results: Wagner 10 - University of California, Merced 7
Wagner and the University of California, Merced were tied 1-1 after one quarter of play. Bognolo scored the lone goal for the Seahawks. Strasser and Alvarez would put away their first of the game, as the Seahawks would trail 4-3 going into the half.Â

In the third frame, Wagner would gain the lead after goals from Alvarez and Strasser to open the half. Junior Luis Camino Sosa scored his first of the tournament during the third quarter, along with senior captain Ben Zovickian adding Wagner's final goal of the third. The Seahawks would outscore the Bobats 3-1 in the final frame, to win the game 10-7. Chambers and Bognolo both found the back of the net, with junior captain Andrew Cowie netting his first of the day in the fourth.

Game 3 Results: Wagner 12 - #19 Harvard 14
The Seahawks scored three goals in the first quarter against Harvard. Strasser would score twice as Zovickian would add his own goal with a half minute left in the frame. Strasser would strike again in the second quarter, along with Camino Sosa to bring Wagner's first half goal total to five, as Wagner would trail 6-5 going into the third quarter.

Wagner would gain the lead during the third frame. Bognolo continued to score, as Ray added his second of the tournament, and freshman Maayan Nahari would score twice in the quarter. Nahari's goal with 1:47 left in the fourth granted the Seahawks a 9-8 lead going into the final quarter. In the fourth, Camino Sosa would add his second of the competition as Strasser put his own in the back of the net. Camino Sosa's goal would tie the game at 11 apiece with 26 seconds to play. In overtime, the Seahawks would be outscored by the Crimson 3-1, with the lone goal coming from Lanier, and fall with a final score of 14-12.

Game 4 Results: Wagner 12 - Iona 11
The Seahawks jumped out to a 4-2 lead after one quarter. Bognolo scored twice in the frame, scoring in all four games throughout the tournament. Varga and Zovickian were responsible for the other two goals of the frame. Chambers and Strasser would put Wagner's goal total at six before the first half ended, as the Green & White held a 6-5 lead going into the third quarter.Â

Wagner would be outscored 3-2 in the third quarter to tie the game at eight before the final frame. Zovickian would find this second goal along with Alvarez, who found his first of the game during the third. In the fourth, Bognolo would net his third and fourth goals of the game, with Chambers scoring his second. Laszlo Strasser would nail the game-winner with 44 ticks left in the game, bringing the final score to 12-11.

This is Strasser's second game-winning goal of the season, as he scored with 21 seconds remaining in the season opener, against MIT.

Next up, Wagner will play host to Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) opponents Mount St. Mary's and George Washington on Saturday, October 28, at the Spiro Sports Center. The Green & White will then have their 'Senior Day' on Sunday, October 29 prior to facing off against Bucknell.
