Laszlo Strasser and sophomore
Smith Connors of the Wagner men's water polo team have been named Honorable Mention All-America by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).
Strasser's season placed him among the most nationally recognized players in program history, highlighting his first ACWPC All-America selection. The native from Budapest, Hungary, capped a historic Wagner career by earning All-MAWPC Honorable Mention honors following an outstanding 2025 season. Strasser totaled 101 goals, 31 assists, and 24 steals, highlighted by a program-record 30-goal performance against Mercyhurst on Sept. 20, the most goals ever scored in a single game in Wagner men's water polo history. A fixture on the Cutino Award Watch List, Strasser earned MAWPC Player of the Week honors on Oct. 2 after posting 15 goals at the Gary Troyer Tournament, along with three MAWPC Player of the Week Honor Roll selections. The first Seahawk ever named MAWPC Rookie of the Year (2022), Strasser also collected All-MAWPC First Team honors in 2023, cementing his legacy as one of the most accomplished players in program history.
Connors has emerged as one of the program's most nationally visible young talents, featuring also his first ACWPC All-America nomination. Connors earned his first career All-MAWPC Honorable Mention recognition in Nov. 20, following a strong sophomore campaign in which he totaled 53 goals, 21 assists, and 20 steals. Connors also collected MAWPC Player of the Week Honor Roll accolades twice during the season, including a Co-Player of the Week Honor Roll selection on Oct. 15, and previously earned MAWPC Rookie of the Week honors twice in 2024, underscoring his continued development as one of the conference's most impactful young. The dynamic attacker played a key role in Wagner's first day MAWPC championships, scoring four goals against Bucknell, and finished the tournament with six total goals players.
