Track and Field Set to Host Wagner College Invitational

Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner men's and women's track and field teams will host the Wagner College Invitational this Friday, January 5th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. 

The last two appearances earned the Seahawks multiple Northeast Conference (NEC) awards. After the Seahawk Shootout on December 9th, senior Luke Cunningham was named NEC Track Athlete of the Week after his performance in the one mile race clocking in at 4:09.56.

On the women's side, freshman Elisa Parazzi placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.5m earning NEC Prime Performer honors. Sophomore Ruth-Ann Chambers earned her second Prime Performer honors of the indoor season after setting a personal record time of 8.9 in the 60m hurdles. 

Last year at the Wagner College Invitational the Seahawks placed top three in numerous events. 

Micheal Hubert placed third in the 800m run while Anthony Bentivegna placed second in the 3000m run. In jumps, Ryan Lane earned second place in the long jump with a distance of 6.79m.

For the women, Ruth-Ann Chambers finished third in the 500m dash while Claudia Salas, Gabriella Menendez, Marlene Adolf and Sara Rutherford placed second in the 4x400 relay.

Next up, Wagner will compete in the Penn-10 Select Meet on January 14th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
