Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls At Stonehill

Easton, MA – The Wagner College men's basketball team led 24-21 at the midway mark behind 14 first-half points by sophomore Rob Taylor II, but it wasn't enough, as Northeast Conference (NEC) newcomer Stonehill earned a 62-58 win over the Seahawks on Thursday night.

Taylor finished with a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Javier Ezquerra and graduate student Jahbril Price-Noel added 12 points. Senior Brandon Brown was the second Seahawk with 11 rebounds, while adding six points offensively.

Stonehill had the early edge in the contest, but an 8-0 Wagner run to end the first half, capped by a Brandon Brown layup with 35 seconds to play, gave the Seahawks the advantage at the break.

An Ezquerra three gave Wagner a four-point lead at 27-23 one minute into the second half, and a three by Price-Noel made it 33-30 with 13:17 to play, but the Skyhawks answered and took the lead late in the second half.

A basket by Taylor with 20 seconds to play got Wagner within four at 59-55, but it wasn't enough, as Stonehill hung on for the victory.

With the loss, Wagner falls to 1-2 in conference play and 8-6 overall, while Stonehill improves to 2-1 in league play and 6-11 on the season.

The Seahawks held a 36-33 advantage on the glass throughout the contest.

Next up, Wagner will play host to Saint Francis U on Saturday, 7, with tip-off scheduled for 4:00 pm.
