Loretto, PA – The Wagner College women's basketball team earned a wire-to-wire win at Saint Francis U in the first game of the Northeast Conference (NEC) season.
Wagner opened its first conference game of the season on a 10-0 run while holding Saint Francis U to just 1-9 shooting.
Wagner also caused 10 turnovers in the first quarter as graduate student
Zhaneia Thybulle tallied 10 points.
The Seahawks continued to dominate on both ends of the floor in the second quarter as they outscored the Red Flash 19-2.
Wagner's 22 first half turnovers resulted in 25 points off turnovers through the first 20 minutes of the contest. As a team, the Seahawks shot 16-31 from the floor in the first half.
Through the first half, Thybulle tallied 12 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals while senior
Drayah Heyward also scored in double figures with 10 points.
Along with her 10 points, Heyward tallied three steals and two assists.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks shot 7-15 from the field as they outscored the Red Flash 20-8. Wagner also caused four turnovers in the third.
In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks outscored the Red Flash 23-11 to preserve the victory.
The win brings Wagner to 1-0 in conference play and 6-6 on the season.
The win is also tied for the largest margin of victory in program history, a record that lasted since December 8, 1982 when Wagner defeated St. Francis NY 97-46.
Zhaneia Thybulle led the way with 16 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals while
Drayah Heyward tallied 10 points, two assists and three steals.

Alex Cowan chipped in eight points and seven rebounds while junior
Julia Fabozzi also tallied eight points and seven rebounds.
Wagner will be back in action on Friday, January 6 when they welcome Merrimack to the Spiro Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm on NEC Front Row.
