Providence, RI – The Wagner men's water polo team dropped both games at the final day of the Bruno Classic.
Wagner (13), Air Force (17)
In the opening game of the day, Wagner fell to Air Force, 17-13.
Wagner took a 4-2 advantage into the second quarter behind two goals from sophomore
Mattia Bognolo. Junior Zsombor Gyémánt and senior Olivér Fodor each tallied a goal in the opening frame.
In the second quarter, Olivér Fodor tallied three goals while Zsombor Gyémánt found the back of the net once as the teams went to the second half tied at eight.
Air force outscored Wagner 4-3 in the third quarter, as senior
Shaked Yacoby tallied a goal along with
Mattia Bognolo and Olivér Fodor.
Air Force went on to outscore Wagner 5-2 in the final frame to preserve the victory.
Olivér Fodor tallied five goals in the contest to go along with eight drawn exclusions.
Wagner (7), Pacific (16)
In the final game of the Bruno Classic, Wagner fell to Pacific, 16-7.
In the opening frame, the Tigers outscored the Seahawks 5-0.
As Pacific took a 7-0 lead, sophomore
Angelo Zaina got on the board for Wagner to cut into the lead.
Mattia Bognolo added a goal in the second quarter, as Wagner went to the second half trailing 9-2.
Both teams tallied two goals each in the third quarter as Olivér Fodor tallied both goals for Wagner in the frame.
The Green & White put up three goals in the final stanza, but it wasn't enough as Pacific earned a 16-7 victory.
Olivér Fodor lead all Seahawks with three goals, giving him 15 in four games this weekend.
Wagner will be back in action next weekend when they take place in four games in three days at the Princeton Invitational.
