Men's Cross Country

First-Year Seahawks Pace Cross Country Teams At Stony Brook Season Opener

Stony Brook, NY - The Wagner College cross country teams competed in the Stony Brook season opener on Saturday, with the men's team placing second overall.

The Seahawks only trailed the host institution Stony Brook, as graduate student Jean Uminiski placed fourth individually with a time of 19:11:9.  Junior Anthony Bentivegna also placed in the top ten, finishing ninth overall  in 19:11.9, while senior Dominic Palermo placed 13th in 19:39.10. Junior Paul Siconolfi (19:53.70, 20th), and sophomore Johnny Sokoll (20:27.20, 29th) rounded out Wagner's top-30 finishes.

On the women's side, the Seahawks finished behind fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member LIU in seventh place. In her first-ever collegiate competition, freshman Laura Trenado, led Wagner with a time of 15:16.00, which was good for 22nd overall. Returners Gia Comerford and Ana Blanco Duran placed 38th and 43rd, respectively.

Next up, Wagner's cross country teams will compete at the LIU Invite on September 9.
