This Week In Wagner Athletics; Six Sports In Action As Two More Teams Get Underway

Staten Island, NY- Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.

Women's Golf
  • The Seahawks opened the fall season at the Delaware State Fall Invite on Monday. Day two wraps up the 54-hole event on Tuesday.
 

Men's Golf
  • The Seahawks take on Monmouth in a match play event on Wednesday, September 21 at Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, NJ.
  • Wagner opened the fall season at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate last weekend and shot a program-best 282 (-2) on day one. It was the first time the program has ever shot under par in a round.
  • Senior Tyler Galantini also shot a career-best 67 (-4) on day one.
 

Women's Soccer
  • After the past three games away from home, Wagner will welcome NEC opponent Central Connecticut State to Hameline Field on Thursday, September 22 at 7:00 P.M.
  • The Seahawks dropped its NEC opener 2-0 at Saint Francis U on Thursday, September 15.
  • Senior Madison Carr leads Wagner with three goals in nine games this season while leading the team with 18 shots.
  • In seven starts this season, sophomore goalkeeper Sam Hughes has made 42 saves.
 
Field Hockey
  • Wagner will return home to welcome Towson to the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex on Friday, September 23 at 3:30 P.M. before traveling to Monmouth on Sunday, September 25 at 1:00 P.M.
  • In its last contest, the Seahawks fell to in-state rival Columbia 2-0 on Saturday, September 17.
  • Graduate student Julia Cruces Pastorino leads the Seahawks with three goals.
  • In six games this season, graduate student Daisy Ruhle has stopped 38 shots and has a 1.78 goals against average.
 
Women's Fencing
  • The Seahawks will begin the David Sierra era at the Neil Lazar ROC in New Haven, CT on Saturday, September 24. 
 
Triathlon
  • Triathlon has its first race back in the United States as they head to Stony Point, NY this Saturday for the Toughman Sprint.
  • After their first successful outing in Montréal placing first and second, the Seahawks look to keep their momentum going into this week.
  • Vivien Mattice and Maia Vitoratos had a stellar performance in the Super Sprint Grand Prix. Mattice placed fifth out of 27, finishing with a time of 31:09. Maia Vitoratos placed 12th, clocking in at 32:13.
