COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Wagner College field hockey team landed three Seahawks on the 2026 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Watchlist, announced by the group on Thursday.
212 Division I student-athletes were selected onto the 2026 list. The NFHCA Watchlist recognizes field hockey student-athletes who have demonstrated a high level of achievement and are considered among those with strong potential for NFHCA All-Region and All-American consideration this season.
Student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coaches and must have earned qualifying field hockey recognition within the previous two years. Qualifying honors include NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-America, All-Conference, Senior Nexus Championship selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team, or selection to a U.S. National or international team roster.
The Watchlist is intended to highlight returning and emerging standouts entering the 2026 season. Selection does not guarantee future NFHCA postseason recognition.
For the Green & White, senior forward Floortje Leunisse earned All-NEC Second Team honors at the end of last season's campaign after starting all 20 games, scoring nine goals, and adding six assists to lead the team in both categories. The Breda, Netherlands native also earned a spot on the 2025 NFHCA All-Region Mideast Second Team.
Newcomer senior Mia DiGenova comes to Grymes Hill after spending three seasons in goal at former NEC member Saint Francis. DiGenova received All-NEC Second Team honors to go along with a program-record 10 shutouts and four NEC Defensive Player of the Week nods.
The King of Prussia, Pennsylvania native recorded six straight shutouts during the 2025 season, spanning 290 consecutive minutes without giving up a goal.
Sophomore defender Julia de Leeuw returns for her second year as a member of the Wagner College field hockey program. The Houten, Netherlands native started 19 games and appeared in all 20 last season. De Leeuw scored five goals, dished out two assists, and tallied three defensive saves to find herself on the 2025 All-NEC Second Team as a freshman.
Leunisse, DiGenova, de Leeuw, and the rest of the Seahawks begin their 2026 season at UAlbany on Friday, August 28. The Seahawks and the Great Danes' matchup is set for noon on Alumni Turf.
