Lewisburg, PA – The Wagner men's water polo team earned two victories to open the Bucknell Invitational.
Wagner (18), Salem (14)
The Seahawks opened the Bucknell Invitational with a high scoring victory over Salem, 18-14.
Wagner put a stamp on the contest in the opening eight minutes when they outscored Salem 8-2. Sophomore
Mattia Bognolo led the way for the Seahawks as he tallied two goals.
Wagner carried its momentum into the second frame when they outscored Salem 5-3 behind another goal from
Mattia Bognolo, junior
Ryan Lanier tallied two goals in the second frame to keep Wagner in front.
In the third quarter, both teams tallied three goals.

Kristian Stanczewski each tallied goals.
In the final eight minutes, Salem made launched a 6-2 run throughout the quarter, but Wagner was able to hold them off and hold on to its lead they build early in the game to earn an 18-14 victory,
Mattia Bognolo tallied six goals in the opening game of the weekend while junior Zsombor Gyémánt tallied seven assists.
Wagner (14), McKendree (9)
Wagner earned its second win of the day when they outlasted McKendree, 14-9.
Wagner opened the contest on a 5-2 run in the first eight minutes behind two goals from freshman

Mattia Bognolo and Zsombor Gyémánt also tallied goals for Wagner in the quarter.
Wagner tallied one goal in the second quarter while McKendree scored three as Wagner took a 6-5 lead into the halftime intermission.
Wagner created separation in the third quarter, when they outscored McKendree 3-1 to open up a 9-6 lead.
Mattia Bognolo, Zsombor Gyémánt and
Laszlo Strasser each tallied goals. For Bognolo and Strasser, the goals completed hat tricks for them in the game.

Laszlo Strasser tallied their fourth goal of the same while Zsombor Gyémánt completed his hat trick.
Kevin Roach stopped two shots in the game for Wagner as he earned his second victory in between the pipes on the day.
WIth two assists in the contest, Zsombor Gyémánt became the all-time assists leader in program history with 112. He passed former teammate
Jack Leighton, who tallied 111 assists as a Seahawk.
Wagner will conclude the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday, September 18 when they open Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) play against Fordham and Bucknell.
