Hay Earns Bronze In 800M On Day Two Of NEC Championships

Emmitsburg, MD - The Wagner women's outdoor track and field team completed the two-day Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Championships on Sunday, finishing in a tie for eighth place, scoring 53 points. 

Saint Francis U repeated as outdoor champions, procuring 175 points to capture the team title. LIU (119), and Central Connecticut (104) rounded out the top three schools. FDU (87), Bryant (79.5), and Merrimack (65) finished fourth through sixth, respectively, while Sacred Heart (64.5) was next in seventh. The host Mount St. Mary's and Wagner tied for eighth with 53 points while St. Francis Brooklyn rounded out the ten-team field with 18 points. 

Kayla Hay was the top finisher for the Green & White, as the senior runner earned bronze in the 800m finals, crossing the finish line in 2:20.64. Teammate Anna Blanco Duran produced a fifth-place finish, checking in with a time of 2:22.90. 
 

Ruth-Ann Chambers placed fourth in the 400H and fifth in the 100H as she finished the 400H with a time of 1:04.39 while finishing the 100H in 14.98 to collect nine points for the Green & White.  Mia Milton finished among the top-ten in the 400m with a time of 59.27, garnering two points. 

The 4x100 relay squad of Gabriella Menendez, Chambers, Milton, and Claudia Salas placed fourth overall, posting a time of 49.09.  Gia Comerford took sixth overall in the 3000 Steeplechase, scoring three points while turning in a time of 12:06.36. 

Elizabeth Szambel, Cascio and Maryann Walsh ran in the 5,000m with Szambel finishing amongst the top-15 with a time of 19:10.64. The 4x400 finished seventh overall with a time of 3:59.48 to gain two points. 

In the field events on Sunday, Bridget Damon and Jodie Bonhometre collected a combined six points in the hammer, with Damon taking fourth overall with a toss of 46.04m while Bonhometre finished at 43.00m.
