Softball’s Comeback Against Saint Francis U Falls Short In 4-3 Defeat

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough, as Saint Francis U game away with a 4-3 victory in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon at the Lower Field.

With the loss, Wagner falls to 11-10 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play, while the Red Flash moves to 17-4 in league play.

After the Red Flash took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Seahawks fought back. Senior Mackenzie Vogler launched her fourth home run of the season in the fourth inning to get the Green and White on the board.

Next up, reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week Nora Conway got the Seahawks within one with an RBI single to center field.

In the sixth, freshman Madi Silber's pinch-hit RBI single brought home senior Makenzie Miller to tie the game at 3-3, but Saint Francis U scored in the sixth to take the 4-3 victory.

Sophomore Scarlett Lloyd was charged with the loss in the circle after tossing 5.1 innings in relief of senior Eve Harvey.

The Seahawks held an 8-7 advantage in hits, with Conway and Miller recording two hits apiece.

Next up, the Seahawks will take on Fairleigh Dickinson in the final regular season series next Saturday and Sunday.
