Villanova & Philadelphia, PA – The #15 Wagner women's water polo team claimed two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) victories on Saturday to extend the team's winning streak to 11.
#15 Wagner (15) vs. Villanova (7)
The Seahawks claimed their 10th consecutive victory in the first game of the day against Villanova, 15-7. The contest began with junior
Skye Nankervis winning the opening sprint of the contest. Wagner went on to outscore Villanova 4-1 in the opening quarter behind four different goal scorers. Junior
Abbey Simshauser, fifth-year senior
Malia Josephson, and sophomores
Andrea Arias and
Mar Navarro tallied goals for the Green & White in the opening frame.
SImshauser and Navarro each netted their second goal of the contest while senior
Pip Nash got on the scoresheet as Wagner took a 7-3 lead into the intermission after outscoring Villanova 3-2 in the second stanza.
The Wildcats opened the second half on a 2-0 run to cut the Seahawks deficit before Wagner ended the quarter on a 4-0 run to take an 11-5 lead after the third quarter. Senior

Andrea Arias, and
Abbey Simshauser each found the back of the net in the frame.
The Seahawks outscored the hosts 4-2 in the final frame to preserve the victory. Freshmen
Carlota Alonso and
Ilayda Kocak found the back of the net in the final stanza along with
Malia Josephson and
Skye Nankervis.
Abbey Simshauser led Wagner on both ends of the pool with three goals and five steals while senior goalkeeper
Kristina Bell stopped seven shots in the victory.
#15 Wagner (21) vs. La Salle (11)
The Seahawks claimed another Saturday sweep as they defeated La Salle, 20-10 in the second game of the day.
Skye Nankervis began the contest winning her first of four sprints while Wagner outscored La Salle 6-0 in the opening frame.
Andrea Arias and
Malia Josephson tallied two goals each while
Abbey Simshauser and
Pip Nash each contributed one goal in the stanza.
Wagner continued their momentum in the second stanza after outscoring La Salle 6-2 in the second.

Carlota Alonso,
Abbey Simshauser,
Skye Nankervis, and
Sofia Diaz Alvarez scored in the second.
With a 12-2 lead entering the second half, both teams tallied nine goals in the final 16 minutes of play but it wasn't enough for the Explorers to overcome.
Along with her four sprint victories,
Skye Nankervis found the back of the net six times to go along with two steals.
Andrea Arias tallied four goals while
Kristina Bell stopped nine shots in the victory.
With the two victories, Wagner extends their winning streak to 11 games and now have two double digit winning streaks in the same season for the first time in program history.
The Seahawks will wrap up the weekend at the Spiro Sports Center on Sunday, April 10 to honor their five seniors at 1:00 P.M.
