#15 Women’s Water Polo Remains Unbeaten In Conference Play With Two Victories On Saturday

Loudonville & New Rochelle, NY -The #15 Wagner women's water polo team claimed two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) victories on Saturday to remain unbeaten in conference play.

In the third meeting between these two conference foes, the Seahawks defeated the Saints for the third time this season. The game began with junior Skye Nankervis winning her the first sprint of the contest, her first of four consecutive sprint victories in the game. The Seahawks outscored the Saints 5-2 in the opening stanza through four different goal scorers. Sophomore Mar Navarro led the way in the frame with two goals while fifth-year senior Malia Josephson, senior Sofia Diaz Alvarez, and sophomore Andrea Arias tallied goals to give Wagner a 5-2 lead after the first stanza.
 
The Seahawks continued their momentum in the second quarter as they outscored the Saints 4-2 in the second stanza. Junior Abbey Simshauser tallied a hat trick in the frame while Malia Josephson tallied her second of the game.

 The Green & White outscored Siena 5-2 in the third quarter as freshman Carlota Alonso got on the scoresheet for the the Seahawks while Skye Nankervis and Malia Josephson tallied one goal in the frame. Mar Navarro scored twice in the stanza to bring her goal total to three in the contest.

Both teams combined for 11 goals in the fourth quarter while Wagner outscored Siena 6-5 to close out the victory.
In her third start in between the pipes this season, senior goalkeeper Mikaela Wells stopped six shots while Mar Navarro spearheaded the Wagner attack with five goals and four assists.

#15 Wagner (17) vs. RV Iona (6)
The Seahawks claimed their ninth consecutive victory and tenth in conference play with a 17-8 victory over RV Iona. The Seahawks outscored Iona 5-3 in the opening quarter as Abby Simshauser led the way with two goals while Malia Josephson, Andrea Arias, and Mar Navarro found the back of the net.
The Seahawks continued their momentum in the second quarter as they outscored the Gaels 5-1 in the second quarter. Sofia Diaz Alvarez scored twice in the quarter while Malia Josephson, Andrea Arias, and Abbey SImshauser tallied goals.
In the second half, the Green & White outscored the hosts 7-2 behind goals from two goals from Abbey Simshauser and Andrea Arias.

In her first start of the day, senior goalkeeper Kristina Bell stopped 13 shots in the win while Abbey Simshauser found the back of the net five times

Wagner will continue conference play next weekend when they travel to Villanova on Saturday, April 9 for a 9:00 A.M. tilt before heading to La Salle for a 4:00 P.M. contest.

On Sunday, April 10, the Seahawks will welcome Iona to honor their five seniors at the Spiro Sports Center at 1:00 P.M.
