Staten Island, NY- The Wagner men's lacrosse team defeated Sacred Heart 14-8 on Saturday at Hameline Field for their first conference victory of the season.

Stephen Dwyer scored four goals and tallied an assist while
Benjamin Stewart added two goals in his season debut.
Jack Brady posted a hat trick.
Aidan Clark recorded a multi-goal game in the win, whileÂ
Patrick Caldwell and
Tyler Lawton each found the back of the net once. The Seahawks move to 3-5 (1-2 NEC) while the Pioneers fall to 3-6 (1-2 NEC).Â

Danny Brady made nine saves in net for the Seahawks. Wagner outshot Sacred Heart 49-33 (31-17 on goal).

Dwyer opened the game's scoring for his 14th goal of the season just two minutes into the contest. Sacred Heart answered with a Carson Spooner goal to tie it at 1-1.
Jack Brady put the Seahawks back in front, 2-1, with 4:25 to play in the opening frame.

Less than a minute later, Skyler Wilde netted a goal to tie it back up at 2-2. Making his season debut,
Benjamin Stewart scored to put the Seahawks ahead 3-2 heading into the second frame. Ryan Stout opened the second quarter scoring for the Pioneers, making it a 3-3 game. Wagner then rattled off two straight goals from
Carson Skinner and
Jack Brady.

Ten seconds later, Sacred Heart netted a Jake Garb goal to bring it within one, 5-4. Skinner then netted his second goal of the game with 2:53 to go in the half.

Sal Miccio closed out the first half scoring, making it a 6-5 game going into the locker room.

Wagner rattled off four straight goals to open the second half with a commanding 10-5 lead. Stewart and Caldwell scored less than a minute apart, followed by
Jack Brady and Dwyer.

The Pioneers chipped back into it with two goals by Morgan O'Reilly and Miccio. With 11 seconds before the end of the third period, Clark tacked on a goal to make it an 11-7 game heading into the final 15 minutes of play.

Sacred Heart added its final goal of the game a minute into the fourth, but the Seahawks shut it down defensively from there. The Green & White closed out Saturday's performance with three goals with two coming from Dwyer and then Clark capped it off with 4:49 to go.

Wagner is back in action next Saturday on the road against Hobart at 12:00 p.m.
