Santa Barbara, CA – The Wagner College softball team dropped a pair of games to New Mexico and UCSB to start its California road trip on Friday.
The Seahawks fell 5-2 to New Mexico in the first game of the day before dropping an 11-4 decision in game two.
Game 1 Recap: New Mexico 5-2 Wagner
Wagner took an early lead in the first game of the day. Sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd led off the second inning with a base hit and scored on an RBI double by senior
Mackenzie Vogler.
Three batters later, a bunt single by junior
Bianca Worthy brought home Vogler to increase the Wagner lead to 2-0.
New Mexico answered in the bottom half of the third inning, scoring four runs, before adding one additional run in the sixth inning to earn the victory.

Eve Harvey was charged with the loss after tossing 5.1 innings, striking out two batters in the process. Senior
Kayla Hooks also saw action in relief.
The Seahawks combined for six hits, with Vogler recording two hits throughout the contest.
Game 2 Recap: UCSB 11-4 Wagner
Wagner's first run of the game came in the fifth inning, as Worthy connected on the first home run of her collegiate career to put the Seahawks on the board.
One inning later, the Green and White came through with the bases loaded, as senior
Natalie Del Ponte scored on a wild pitch. Next up, sophomore
Keaghan Ward's RBI single plated Worthy and senior
Makenzie Miller.
UCSB scored four runs apiece in the second and third inning, before adding three runs in the sixth.
Wagner combined for nine hits in the contest, as Worthy led the way with three base hits, while Ward picked up two hits in the loss.
Wagner will take on UCSB and Santa Clara tomorrow, with first pitch set for 11:45 PT.
