South Orange, NJ - The Wagner baseball team tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth before the Seton Hall University Pirates scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the frame and tacked five more over the seventh and eighth as the Seahawks dropped a 7-1 decision on Wednesday afternoon from Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium at Owen T. Carroll Field.

Aaron Groller allowed one run on four hits in 4.2 innings of work while walking two and striking out four batters without factoring into the decision. Daniel Frontera (1-3) faced two batters in a third of an inning in picking up the win while Alex Nicolosi earned his first save of the season, throwing four scoreless innings in which he only allowed two hits, two walks, and struck out five batters.

Following a scoreless first inning, Seton Hall scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second. Pokrovsky led off the inning with a walk before advancing to third on a one-out double by Grober. Pokrovsky came into score on Del Castillo's wild pitch, giving Seton Hall the early 1-0 advantage.

The Seahawks evened the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth. Griffin Selby drew a five-pitch walk. With one out and a 2-2 count, Vigliotti scorched a double to right field that brought in Selby from first, tying the game.

Wagner threatened for more as a sacrifice bunt by Xavier Baker moved Vigliotti to third. A walk to Kobayashi concluded Groller's day. Frontera issued a four-pitch walk to Torres that loaded the bases but Kobayashi was picked off to end the inning.
Gorman came on for Del Castillo in the bottom of the fifth. Gale sent a single back up the middle. He would then steal second and third before coming home on the go-ahead RBI ground to second off the bat of Devin Heck, which made it 2-1.

The game remained a one-run deficit until the bottom of the seventh, where Seton Hall tacked on three more runs in building a 5-1 advantage. Hack sent a one-out double down the right-field line before stealing third.

Pat D'Amico reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Hack to score SHU's third run of the contest. With two outs, Pokrovsky sent a two-run home run over the left-field wall, pushing the lead up by four, 5-1.
