Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's water polo team claimed victories over #24 Marist and Siena at the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday evening.
#15 Wagner (19) vs. #24 Marist (12)
The Seahawks picked up their eighth win against a nationally ranked opponent as they defeated #24 Marist, 19-12 at the Spiro Sports Center.
The Seahawks put a stamp on the contest in the first quarter as they outscored the Red Foxes 7-1. Sophomore's
Andrea Arias and
Mar Navarro found the back of the net twice each as senior and reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week
Sofia Diaz Alvarez also scored twice. Junior
Abbey Simshauser also tallied a goal in the opening stanza.
The Red Foxes outscored the Seahawks 4-3 in the second quarter as Wagner took a 10-5 lead into the second half.

The Seahawks returned the favor in the third quarter and outscored Marist 5-4 behind three goals from
Abbey Simshauser and one goal from
Malia Josephson and junior
Skye Nankervis.
The Seahawks outscored the Red Foxes 4-3 in the final eight minutes to claim a 19-12 victory.
Abbey Simshauser found the back of the net six times while drawing three exclusions and recording two steals while senior goalkeeper
Kristina Bell stopped seven shots and recorded two steals.

The Seahawks claimed their 5th consecutive victory with a decisive 19-2 victory over Siena in the nightcap at the Spiro Sports Center.
The Seahawks put a stamp on the contest as they opened the game on a 13-0 run. After the first quarter, Wagner held a 3-0 lead thanks in part to goals from
Skye Nankervis,
Malia Josephson, and
Andrea Arias. The Green & White opened up the scoring in the second quarter as they outscored the Saints 9-0.
Sofia Diaz Alvarez tallied a hat trick as
Andrea Arias scored twice.
Abbey Simshauser,
Mar Navarro, and
Malia Josephson each tallied goals in the second stanza as well.
The Green & White outscored Siena 6-2 in the second half to preserve their 5th consecutive victory and their 5th conference victory in as many attempts this season.
Andrea Arias found the back of the net four times and dished out two assists while
Sofia Diaz Alvarez tallied a hat trick and dished out two assists.
Kristina Bell stopped six out of eight shots she faced in the victory.
The Seahawks will wrap up their home stand tomorrow at the Spiro Sports Center tomorrow when they take on conference opponents the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) at 10:00 A.M. before wrapping up the weekend against #23 LIU at 2:00 P.M.
