Brookville, NY- The Wagner men's lacrosse team dropped a 12-7 decision at LIU on Saturday in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener.

The Seahawks fall to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. With the win, LIU snaps a three-game losing streak and moves to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in NEC play.

The Seahawks received three goals from
Aidan Clark, while
Eli Fisher, Jack Lawton,
Stephen Dwyer, and
Jack Brady netted a goal each on the afternoon. Goalkeeper
Danny Brady made 10 saves in goal for Wagner.

LIU opened the scoring seven minutes into the game on a Thomas Von Bargen goal. Less than four minutes later, Sean Boll added another goal for the Sharks to go up 2-0 in the first quarter.

Wagner got on the board with a
Tyler Lawton goal, ripping it past LIU goalie Will Mark with 2:01 to go in the opening period.

Blake Behlen quickly answered for LIU and scored to make it a 3-1 game heading into the second frame.

LIU opened the second quarter scoring on a Richie LaCalandra goal to take a 4-1 advantage. LaCalandra netted his second goal of the game less than a minute later and gave the Sharks a 5-1 lead. Jake Gillis batted in a Behlen pass for another goal in the second to make it a five-goal lead.

Wagner was then able to get two goals in a row.
Aidan Clark capitalized off a won faceoff by
Bobby Blewett and went down the field to catch LIU in transition. Clark netted his 13
th goal of the year to make it a 6-2 game.

Blewett won another faceoff, passed to
Brendan Higgins who fed
Eli Fisher to rip one home 15 seconds after Clark's goal to cut LIU lead in half.

LIU then scored three unanswered in a minute and a half span to take a 9-3 lead. Clark was able to end the run with his second goal of the afternoon. The Sharks led 9-4 at the break.

Clark opened the second half scoring, netting his third goal of the day to bring LIU's lead down to 9-5. The sophomore now has posted a hat trick in four straight games.

The Sharks closed out the frame scoring two late goals from Gillis and Will Snelders, giving LIU an 11-5 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes of action.

Jack Brady opened the fourth quarter scoring with his fifth goal of the season, rocketing one past Mark to make it 11-6.

Stephen Dwyer then netted a goal to cut the deficit to four. The senior's 12
th goal of the season made it an 11-7 game with 9:56 to play.

Marcin Maleski tacked on a goal for LIU with 4:03 remaining to give the Sharks a 12-7 lead and close out the scoring on the day. Â

Wagner returns home to Hameline Field next Saturday for an NEC matchup with Saint Joseph's at 2:30 p.m.
