Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's lacrosse team is set to host Colgate University on Saturday afternoon at Hameline Field.

The Seahawks dropped their 5th game of the season on Tuesday afternoon, 13-6. The Pride put a stamp on the contest in the opening quarter as they outscored the Seahawks 4-0 behind two goals from graduate student Katie Whelan.
After Hofstra took a 5-0 lead in the second quarter, senior and reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week
Kasey Dorney tallied her first of two goals to get Wagner on the board before Hofstra ended the half with a 7-1 lead.
The Green & White outscored the Pride 5-2 in the third quarter to get back in the contest as Dorney tallied her second goal of the day. Junior

Megan Greco tallied goals in the quarter as the Seahawks cut the Pride lead to three goals entering the final quarter.
The Pride secured their win after they outscored the Seahawks 4-0 in the fourth quarter.
Kasey Dorney finished with two goals on five shots along with three draw controls and two ground balls.
Victoria Tucci tallied goal on three shots and dished out one assist, classmate
Madeline Seims dished out one assist to go along with one ground ball, one draw control, and one caused turnover.
As a team the Green & White had 22 shots with 15 reaching the net and accumulated nine draw controls. The Seahawks had 22 ground balls while the Pride tallied just 15.
DiStefano And Dorney Claim NEC Weekly Honors
Seniors
Lauren DiStefano and
Kasey Dorney claimed NEC Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Lauren DiStefano claimed NEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and for the third time in her career. She garnered this award on February 22 after a solid outing in Wagner's 12-10 defeat to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) favorites on Saturday, February 19. The senior captain registered 17 saves against the Stags as she was dominant through the first three quarters, holding Fairfield to eight goals while making 14 stops. She also caused one turnover and collected two ground balls for Wagner.
Against Lehigh on Saturday, March 5, DiStefano made 15 stops which include two game saving stops in overtime before classmate
Kasey Dorney scored the overtime winner to give Wagner its first win of the season. Along with her 15 saves, DiStefano sported a 68.2 save percentage and tallied three ground balls and one caused turnover.
Kasey Dorney claimed Co-NEC Player of the Week honors after scoring four goals on six shots as she scooped one ground ball, caused one turnover, and tallied one draw control against Lehigh on Saturday, March 5. Dorney also went 1-1 on free-position opportunities and scored the game-winning goal to secure the first victory of the season for Wagner on against Lehihg.
This is the third time in Dorney's career she has claimed an NEC weekly honor as last season the All-NEC First Team member last season and was named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week on the same day, April 26, 2021, and claimed Player of the week on March 8, 2021.
Dorney was also tabbed as the Preseason Inside Lacrosse NEC Defensive Player of the Year on January 27.
Along with claiming weekly honors, both players claimed NEC Prime Performer honors.
About Colgate
The Raiders enter Hameline Field with a 1-5 record and will look to end a two-game losing streak. Their last time out, they fell 17-6, on Wednesday, March 9 at Cornell.
Colgate's lone victory came at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, February 26, 16-6. Colgate is lead by junior Sarah Harding who has 10 goals on 21 shots. She also leads the team with 12 points while sophomore Catie Lang is right behind her with 11 points.
