Women's Indoor Track & Field Concludes Day One Of 2022 Northeast Conference Championships

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's indoor track & field team concluded the first day of competition at the 2022 Northeast Conference (NEC) Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. 
 
After four events scored, Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart are tied for the lead with 24 points. Mount St. Mary's is a point behind the leaders (23) with both Bryant and LIU two off the pace with 22 points. Saint Francis U (16), FDU (14), Merrimack (8), and Wagner (3) rounded out the nine-team field. 

Three Seahawks will be competing for the 800m crown, led by Anna Blanco Duran, who posted the fastest time on Sunday, crossing the finish line first with a time of 2:18.35. 

Joining Blanco Duran are teammates Gia Comerford and Kayla Hay, who finished preliminaries fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 2:20.44 and 2:20.99. 
 

Ruth-Ann Chambers qualified for three finals tomorrow, beginning with the 60H final as the first-year Seahawk clocked in with a time of 9.14 while finishing fifth during today's preliminaries. 
 

She will be part of the 60m dash, as she checked in with a time of 7.92. 
 

Chambers will join teammate Sara Rutherford in the 400m finale as Rutherford qualified with a time of 58.22 while Chambers was next at 58.96. 
 

Marlene Adolf will compete in Monday's 500m final, as the first-year Seahawk ranked third during today's prelims with a time of 1:18.73.  

 
In the field events, Jodie Bonhometre finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 12.31m while freshman Agathe Yabit cleared 5.10 in the long jump to place eighth overall.
 
The final day of the competition begins tomorrow, February 21 at 9:15 with the weigh throw women's trial/final along with the men's and women's triple jump. The first set of track events is scheduled for 10:00 am with the finals of the men's 60H followed by the women.
