Greenville, NC – The Wagner College softball team wrapped up the ECU Pirate Clash with a 6-2 loss to the host East Carolina on Sunday.
The Seahawks recorded a season-high eight hits on the day, with sophomores
Keaghan Ward and
Scarlett Lloyd both recording multi-hit games.
Senior
Penelope Russ, junior
Bianca Worthy, senior Mackenzie Miller, and freshman
Madi Silber also recorded hits for the Green and White.
For Silber, it was the first base hit of her collegiate career.
Wagner got on the board in the fifth inning, as an RBI double by Vogler brought home freshman
Kate Wolf for the Seahawks' first run of the game.
In the sixth, an RBI double by Lloyd plated Miller to double Wagner's run total.
ECU scored two runs apiece in the first, third, and fourth inning to earn the win.
Senior
Eve Harvey was charged with the loss in the circle, with classmate
Kayla Hooks also seeing action in relief.
With the loss, Wagner falls to 0-5 on the year, while the Pirates improve to 4-6 this season.
The Seahawks will next be in action next weekend at the Hampton Invitational, where they will take on Norfolk State, Morgan State, and Hampton.
