Bronx, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team led 35-32 at the half, but it wasn't enough, as the Seahawks fell 72-59 at Fordham on Tuesday night.
With the loss, Wagner falls to 4-4 on the year, while Fordham improves to 9-1 on the year.
Junior
Rahmir Moore led Wagner with 20 points, while senior
Brandon Brown added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Wagner jumped out to an early lead, as a basket by freshman
Keyontae Lewis capped off a 9-0 run to give the Seahawks a 14-3 lead.
The Seahawks held the Rams to just 1-11 from long range in the first half, while a three by Moore on the other end of the floor gave Wagner its biggest lead of the game at 34-23 with 2:35 to play in the first half.
In the second period, the Seahawks jumped out to a 37-32 lead on another basket by Moore. Both teams went back and forth from there.
After sophomore
Rob Taylor II tied the game at 50-50 with 6:37 to play, the Rams took the lead and never looked back to earn the victory. Fordham was led by Darius Quisenberry's 25 points, while Rostyslav Novitskyi added 19 points.
As a team, Wagner held a 15-9 edge in points from turnovers, while Fordham held a 32-27 edge on the glass.
Next up, Wagner will host Stony Brook on December 15, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Spiro Sports Center.
