Staten Island, NY – The Wagner men's basketball team suffered a 58-48 loss against Merrimack on Saturday at the Spiro Sports Center.
Senior
Brandon Brown led Wagner with 14 points and nine rebounds, while junior
DeLonnie Hunt added 11 points.
After Wagner jumped out to a 6-0 lead, the Warriors answered with a 15-0 run to take the lead on their way to a 32-20 halftime advantage.
The Seahawks fought back early in the second half, as two traditional three-point plays by
Brandon Brown cut the Merrimack lead to 40-32 with 12:35 to play, but it wasn't enough, as the Warriors held on for the win.
Wagner held a 35-29 advantage on the glass while holding Merrimack to 2-10 (20%) from the field in the second half and outscoring the Warriors 28-6 in the paint on the afternoon.
Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Stonehill on Thursday, January 5, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm.
