Bronx, NY - Nine members of the Wagner cross country team will compete in the NCAA Division 1 Regionals this Friday November 11. The regional is hosted by Columbia in the Bronx, NY.
The women's 6k race will start at 11:00 am, followed by the men's 10k race at 12:00 pm.
Winners of three out of the last four Northeast Conference (NEC) titles, the men's team will be represented by six runners. Graduate student Jean Uminski claimed the individual NEC title and is predicted to lead Wagner this Friday.
Senior Dominic Palermo placed third at the NEC championships, while junior
Anthony Bentivegna came in fifth, they will both be competing in the regionals. NEC Rookie of the Year, sophomore
Justin Morris placed 13th at NEC Championships and will be competing in his first regional. Junior's
Paul Siconolfi and
Muhammad Qadri will also be representing the Green and White this Friday.
On the women's side, the Seahawks will be sending three runners to the Northeast Regional.
Freshman Laura Trenado placed 12th in her first ever NEC championship appearance, clocking in at 18:46 to lead the Seahawks. Junior Elizabeth Szambel finished the race in 19:08 coming in 20th place at the NEC Championships. Senior
Sara Cascio will also be running this Friday.
