Men’s Water Polo Sweeps Day Two Of The MAWPC Crossover

Morgantown, WV – The Wagner men's water polo team completed a weekend sweep at the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) crossover on Sunday.

The four victories this weekend gives Wagner its first weekend sweep under head coach Josh Hower and its first five-game winning streak with Josh Hower leading the program.

Wagner (21) vs. Salem (16)
In the morning contest, Wagner earned a 21-16 of the the hosts Salem.

Wagner outscored Salem 7-4 in the opening frame as freshman Laszlo Strasser tallied four goals for Wagner.

In the second quarter, the Seahawks continued to find the back of the net as they tallied six goals. Zsombor Gyémánt and Olivér Fodor each tallied two goals as Wagner took a 13-9 lead into halftime.
 
In the third quarter, Salem opened the frame on a 4-0 run to tie the contest before Wagner ended the frame on a 3-1 run to take a 16-14 lead into the final stanza.

Wagner tallied five goals in the fourth quarter, including a hat trick from Olivér Fodor to preserve the victory.

Olivér Fodor led the Wagner attack with six goals and Laszlo Strasser found the back of the net five times.

Wagner (17) vs. Gannon (8)
Wagner earned its fourth victory of the weekend against Gannon.

In a tight first quarter, both teams exchanged four goals to bring the game level after the opening eight minutes. Olivér Fodor, Laszlo Strasser, senior Ben Zovickian and freshman Ryan Kerry each scored for Wagner.

Wagner created separation in the second quarter as they out scored Gannon 6-1. Olivér Fodor, Ryan Kerry and Laszlo Strasser each tallied two goals in the frame.

Gannon outscored Wagner 2-1 in the third quarter as Olivér Fodor tallied the lone goal for the Seahawks.


In the fourth quarter, junior's Barnabas Vidovics and Ryan Lanier tallied two goals while senior Kyle Chambers chipped in one goal as Wagner earned a 17-8 victory.

The Seahawks will be back in action next weekend when they host travel to the Bronx to take on Johns Hopkins and George Washington on Saturday, October 15 before hosting Johns Hopkins and LIU on Sunday, October 16 at the Spiro Sports Center.
