Lawrenceville, NJ – The Wagner field hockey team fell to Rider 2-0 to drop its first Northeast Conference (NEC) game of the season.
In a contest between the top two NEC teams, both sides exchanged a number of shots throughout the first 15 minutes.

Daisy Ruhle stopped the lone shot on target.
In the second quarter, Rider opened the scoring as Kiera Guckavan tallied her second goal of the season with 3:26 remaining in the first half.
Despite allowing the goal in the second quarter, Wagner tallied four shots in the second quarter while tallying two of those four shots on target.
Wagner continued to apply pressure in the third quarter while taking five shots and two on goal but were unable to convert. The Seahawks also registered four penalty corner opportunities.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Broncs extended its lead on a goal from Indy Zoontjens to make the game 2-0 with 2:14 remaining.
Rider would go on to hold on and win the contest 2-0 bringing both teams to 5-1 in conference play with one game remaining in the NEC regular season.
The Seahawks can clinch its first-ever NEC regular season title with a win against LIU and a Rider loss to Merrimack.
The Seahawks will wrap up its regular season on Friday, October 28 when they welcome LIU to Grymes Hill as the Seahawks will celebrate senior day.
