Providence, RI – The Wagner field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest to Brown 2-0.
In a scoreless first quarter, Brown had the lone shot on target that was stopped by graduate student
Daisy Ruhle.
In the second quarter, the Bears tallied the first goal of the game 5:26 into the second quarter. Seven minutes later, Brown doubled its lead and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Wagner tallied its first shot of the game in the first quarter as they tallied two and forced the Brown goalkeeper to make one save. Wagner also forced three corner opportunities but were unable to convert and find the back of the net.
Trailing 2-0 heading into the fourth quarter, the Seahawks applied the pressure as they tallied nine shots and forced four penalty corners. Three of the Wagner shots made it on target but were stopped by the Brown goalkeeper.
Wagner outshot Brown 11-8 and generated eight corners to Brown's five in the contest.
Graduate student
Julia Cruces Pastorino led the offensive attack for Wagner with four shots and two on target.
The Seahawks will return to action on Friday, October 7 when they host Saint Francis U in a conference contest at 3:00 P.M.
