Men’s Water Polo Earns Two Victories At The Spiro Sports Center

Staten island, NY – The Wagner men's water polo team earned two victories in its first home games of the season on Sunday.

Wagner (16) vs. Johns Hopkins (12)
For the second consecutive day, Wagner defeated Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) opponent Johns Hopkins.

Wagner got off to a fast start as they outscored Johns Hopkins 3-1 in the opening frame before putting up five goals in the second frame. Wagner took a 11-5 lead into the halftime intermission.

Wagner responded with another five goals in the third quarter to create a comfortable lead in the third as they took a 13-6 advantage into the final stanza.
 
In the fourth quarter, the Blue Jays tallied six goals as Wagner tallied three. The Seahawks held on to earn the victory.

Wagner (20) vs. LIU (11)
In the first ever game between these two programs, the Seahawks carried its momentum from the opening game of the day as they outscored the Sharks 5-1 in the first eight minutes.

Wagner tallied just one goal in the second quarter as LIU found the back of the net twice, the game entered the second half with the Seahawks holding a 6-3 lead.

LIU outscored Wagner 5-4 in the third quarter but Wagner took a 15-9 lead into the final eight minutes.
 
Wagner found the back of the net five times to earn its second victory of the day.

The two victories bring Wagner to 12-11 on the season.

The Seahawks will host Navy on Saturday, October 22 at the Spiro Sports Center at 10:00 A.M. before heading to Brooklyn to take on LIU at 3:00 P.M. on October 22.
