This Week In Wagner Athletics; Eight Teams In Action As Busy October Continues For the Seahawks

Staten Island, NY- Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.
 
Field Hockey

- The Seahawks will host NEC opponent Sacred Heart on Friday, October 14 at 3:00 P.M. before its last conference game of the season against La Salle on Sunday, October 16 at 1:00 P.M. on Grymes Hill.
- Wagner earned two NEC victories last weekend as they defeated Saint Francis U on 4-2 on Friday, October 7 and Stonehill 8-0 on Sunday, October 9.
- The Seahawks' 3-0 start in conference play puts them atop the standings as the lone unbeaten team in conference contests.
 
Soccer
- The Seahawks will welcome conference newcomer Stonehill to Hameline Field on Thursday, October 13 at 1:00 P.M.
- Wagner fell to LIU 1-0 on Sunday, October 9.


- The Seahawks currently sit in seventh place in the NEC table with four games remaining.
- Senior goalkeeper Erin Kelly is second in the conference in save percentage and goals against average.
 
Men's Water Polo
- The Seahawks swept the MAWPC crossover this past weekend with four victories in four games.
- Wagner defeated Mercyhurtst, McKendree, Gannon and Salem to move to 9-10 on the season.
 
- Wagner will host its first games of the season at the Spiro Sports Center on Sunday October 16 when they welcome conference opponents Johns Hopkins and LIU.
 
Football
- The Seahawks will travel to Merrimack on Saturday, October 15, at 1:00 P.M.
- Five more conference games will round out the 2022 schedule, with home contests against LIU (October 21) and Sacred Heart (November 12) and road games at Central Connecticut (October 29), Stonehill (November 5), and Duquesne (November 19).

Men's Golf
 - The Seahawks are competing in The Seawane Classic on Monday and Tuesday in Hewlett Harbor, NY.
 

- Tyler Galantini and Micahel Foley earned NEC Prime Performer recognition for September.
 
Women's Golf
- The Seahawks host the Vanessa Picciotto Perrine Memorial Intercollegiate on Wednesday, October 12 at Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, NJ.

- Audrey Paradis earned NEC Prime Performer recognition for September.
 
Women's Tennis
- Women's tennis will head to Hempstead, NY to compete in the Hofstra Invitational on Friday, October 14.
- In its last appearance, the Seahawks traveled to Princeton, NJ for the ITA Regionals.
- Junior Gabrielle Perraudin had a great appearance with a 6-4, 3-6, 11-9 victory over Stony Brook's Debby Mastrodima in the first round of the three-day tournament.
 
Cross Country
- Wagner cross country will compete in the IC4A Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 14 in Bronx, NY hosted by Fordham.
 

- The men's team had a successful outing at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh, recording ten new personal records. Justin Morris
earned his first NEC Rookie of the Week honors.  Jean Uminski, Anthony Bentivenga, and Dominic Palermo were all named NEC Prime
Performers.
- On the women's side, freshman Laura Trenado placed 27th with a time of 22:32, also breaking a personal record.
 
Triathlon
- Wagner triathlon travels to Huddleston, VA for the Kinetic Cup on Saturday October 15.
- In its last outing the Seahawks raced in the Toughman Sprint and had two first place finishes.
- Junior Maia Vitoratos had an outstanding performance as she crossed the finish line as the first overall female. Vitoratos' splits were a run time of 3:37, bike time of 59:15, and a second run time of 23:47 finishing the race at 1:27:42.
-Freshman Leticia Campos competed in her first race representing the Green and White and placed first in the 16-19 age group. Campos completed the race in 1:39:57, her first run time was 3:55, her bike time was 1:05:02, and her second run time was 29:40.
 
Men's Swimming & Diving
- Wagner will compete in a tri-meet with Iona and Sacred Heart on Saturday, October 15 in New Rochelle, NY.
- The Seahawks opened the season last weekend at the Fairfield Invite.
- Kaan Nalcaci won the 200 SC Meter Backstroke, hitting the wall at 2:11.31. His second win of the day came in the 100 SC Meter Butterfly with a time of 57.92.
 
Women's Swimming & Diving
- Wagner will compete in a tri-meet with Iona and Sacred Heart on Saturday, October 15 in New Rochelle, NY.
- The Seahawks opened the season last weekend at the Fairfield Invite.
- Annie Jencova took first place in the 100 SC Meter Freestyle, hitting the wall at 59.53. Jencova also posted a 2:11.06 in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle and finished second. Abbie Hassell also had a second-place finish, touching the wall at 27.95 in the 50 SC Meter Freestyle.
