Washington, D.C. – The Wagner men's water polo team dropped a Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) contest to George Washington 15-10.
George Washington got off to a fast start when they opened the game on a 3-0 run before
Barnabas Vidovics got Wagner on the board. The Colonials went up 5-1 before junior Zsombor Gyémánt brought the game to 5-2 at the end of the first frame.
In the second quarter, Wagner tallied three goals as senior's
Karl Lovett and Olivér Fodor tallied goals. Along with Lovett and Fodor,
Barnabas Vidovics scored in the second quarter as the game headed to halftime with George Washington holding a 10-5 lead.
In the third quarter, Wagner tallied two goals as sophomore
Mattia Bognolo tallied his first goal of the game while
Barnabas Vidovics completed his hat trick.
With George Washington holding a 13-7 lead heading into the final frame, Wagner tallied three goals as Olivér Fodor,
Barnabas Vidovics and sophomore
Luis Camino Sosa tallied goals. For Camino Sosa, it was his first goal of the season.
The three goals in the final frame were not enough as the Colonials defeated the Seahawks 15-10.
Barnabas Vidovics led the attack for Wagner with four goals while Olivér Fodor scored twice and drew six exclusions. Sophomore goalkeeper
Adam Wuthrich got the start in goal for Wagner and stopped three shots while freshman
Matthew Sherry stopped one shot in goal in his Wagner debut.
The Seahawks will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, October 2 when they travel to Navy at 3:00 P.M.
