Men’s Basketball Earns 10th Straight Win With 69-54 Victory Over Saint Francis U

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team earned its 10th straight victory with a 69-54 win over Saint Francis U on Thursday night at the Spiro Sports Center.

With the win, Wagner improves to 13-2 on the season and 9-0 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play while tying last year's 10-game streak for the longest winning streak at Wagner since the 1978-79 season.

With the victory, the Seahawks are now also tied for the third-longest active winning streak in NCAA Division I men's basketball, only trailing #1 Auburn (16 straight wins) and Boise State (13 straight wins). Princeton and UNCW have also won 10 straight games.

Graduate student Alex Morales once again led the Seahawks with 18 points on 7-15 shooting while also contributing six rebounds, seven assists, and two blocks.

Redshirt-senior Raekwon Rogers added 11 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore DeLonnie Hunt was the third Seahawk in double figures with 12 points.

After the Red Flash took a 14-8 lead with 12:13 to play in the first half, Wagner quickly took control of the game, taking the lead on a three by freshman Zaire Williams with 6:29 to play as part of a 9-0 Wagner run that was capped off by a Morales bucket to extend the lead to 24-19 with 4:52 to play in the first half.

Another 9-0 run in the final three minutes extended the lead to double digits, with the Seahawks leading 35-23 at the midway mark.

In the second half, Wagner further extended its lead, as a Hunt three with 13:06 to play made it 52-32, getting the fans at the Spiro Sports Center out of their seats. From there, spectacular plays by Rogers and junior Ja'Mier Fletcher provided further excitement, as Wagner moved to 7-0 at home on the season.

The Seahawks held a 45-28 advantage on the glass while combining for 17 assists on the night.

Next up, the Seahawks will travel to St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, January 29, with tip-off set for 4:00 pm.
