Staten Island, NY- The Wagner men's swimming & diving team won its first-ever meet on Saturday, defeating Staten Island (CSI) over 16 events, 139-102.
The Seahawks 200 Yard Medley team made up of
Karl Lovett,
Tristan Lee,
Matt Dingess, and Bobby Blewett finished in first place, hitting the wall at 1:43.28.
Dingess went on to post another first-place finish with a time of 54.49 in the 100 Yard Butterfly. The Tacoma, WA native secured his third first-place finish of the day in the 50 Yard Butterfly, posting a time of 25.72.
The Green & White dominated the 50 Yard freestyle, with
Jack Leighton finishing in first place with a time of 22.24. Teammates Blewett and
Dylan Egan finished in second and third place in the event, respectively. Leighton took first in another race, posting a 49.61 in the 100 Yard Freestyle event.
Nathan Seaney competed in the 1 Meter Diving event, finishing with a score of 142.75 and earning the team nine points. The Bakersfield, CA native also dove in the 3 Meter Diving event, posting a score of 144.90, good for another nine points.
Wagner finished the meet strong, with
Kristian Stanczewski posting a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Individual Medley, hitting the wall at 58.50. In the final event of the day, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team finished in first place with a time of 1:32.52.
The Seahawks are back in the pool next Friday, January 21 when they travel to New Jersey to face Saint Peter's University at 3:00 p.m.
