Lewisburg, Pennsylvania – The Wagner men's water polo team battled MAWPC foe Bucknell on Sunday evening.
The Seahawks dropped a low-scoring contest against Bucknell.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair that saw the hosts hold a 3-2 advantage over the Green & White. The Bison put a stamp on the contest when they outscored the Seahawks 4-1 in the second stanza anchored by senior Josh Yardley who tallied a hat trick in the quarter.
The final two quarters included three goals, two from Bucknell and one from Wagner in a closely fought half, senior
Vuk Bulajic scored the lone Wagner goal of the half in the fourth quarter.
Wagner junior netminder made seven saves while sophomore Zsombor Gyémánt powered the Seahawks attack with a hat trick. Fifth-year
Jack Leighton tallied two field blocks and won all four sprints of the contest. Junior
Karl Lovett tallied a goal and an assist in the loss.
Next weekend the Seahawks will head out to the West Coast for the Gary Troyer Tournament, which will be contested in Claremont and La Verne, California. Wagner will play two matches on Friday, October 1st against Santa Clara and Whittier College before closing out play on Saturday against Chapman and Pomona Pitzer.
