Washington, DC - The Wagner College women's soccer team is set to embark on a two-match road trip, beginning on Sunday as the Seahawks will have an early morning clash with the Howard University Bison in our Nation's Capital.
 
 
OPENING KICKS...
  • Wagner will be back on the pitch after their its contest against Saint Francis U was postponed on Thursday evening due to inclement weather. 
  • The Seahawks are looking to halt a two-match losing after dropping their Northeast Conference (NEC) opener, 2-0, at home to Sacred Heart last Sunday.
  • Against Sacred Heart, Wagner played a competitive contest as both teams attempted ten shots on the evening (SHU held a 6-5 edge in shots on target). 
  • Despite giving up the two early goals to SHU's Grace O'Hara, junior goalkeeper Erin Kelly made four saves in the contest while her counterpart, Elyssa Kipperman, was credited with five stops. 
  • Freshman Emma Roe led the team with four shots while tying teammate Madison Carr with a game-high two shots on target. 
  • Howard earned its first-ever NEC victory, defeating Bryant, 2-0, on Thursday evening.

ALL-TIME SERIES...
  • Sunday morning's contest marks the first-ever meeting between the schools as part of NEC play.
  • All-time, this will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two schools, with Wagner holding a 6-1-1 lead in the head-to-head series. 
  • The Seahawks are 2-1-1 all-time at Greene Stadium, last picking up a 3-2 overtime victory in their last meeting back on September 6, 2013. 
  • Wagner is 3-0-1 in their last four meetings with the Bison.
  • Howard last picked up a victory over Wagner back on October 17, 2004, a 1-0 win at home. 

ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS...
  • The Seahawks rank fourth in the league in corner kicks taken with 36 and are averaging 4.5 per game, which is third in the conference. 
  • Junior forward Madison Carr ranks fourth in the league in points with eight while teammate Mia Tessier is tied for ninth in the circuit with five points.
  • Carr is tied for the conference-lead with Grace O'Hara of Sacred Heart, Melea Earley of Howard, and Elisabeth Rockhill of Mount St. Mary's in goals with four. 
  • Junior tri-captain Annie White is among the league leaders in goals scored, tied for eighth with two. 
  • Tessier is tied with Erica Bardes of Central Connecticut, Kalli Bell of Mount St. Mary's and Lauren Schultz of St. Francis Brooklyn with three assists. 
  • Junior netminder Erin Kelly ranks sixth in goals against average at 1.50. 

 
ABOUT THE BISON...
  • On July 6, 2020, Howard University accepted an invitation from the Northeast Conference to join the league as part of a six-sport associate member partnership. 
  • This season is the first season the Bison are part of the women's soccer schedule. 
  • Melea Earley leads the team in goals scored (4) and points (9).
  • She, along with Thalia Boucher, Kyra Bolden, and Mikayla Johnson have dished out an assist this season. 
  • Alayah Hightower has played in all five games, stopping 22 shots while only allowing eight goals so far this season.

  • The Green & White closes out its two-game road trip on Thursday, September 30, when the Seahawks head to Emmitsburg, MD to take on Mount St. Mary's.
