Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's soccer team opens up Northeast Conference (NEC) action on Sunday afternoon at Hameline Field as the Seahawks square off against the Sacred Heart University Pioneers. 


Opening Kicks…
  • Sunday marks opening day for conference action for both programs. 
  • Wagner is looking to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 home defeat to UMBC on Thursday evening. 
  • Sacred Heart earned a 4-0 home victory over Saint Peter's on September 12. 
  • Against the Retrievers, Wagner junior goalkeeper Erin Kelly made eight stops on the evening.
  • Juniors Isabella Manzella and Renata Djuravecevic led the way for the Seahawks with two shot attempts apiece against UMBC. 
  • Freshman Emma Roe and sophomore Kayla Barbosa each sent a shot on target in Thursday night's fixture.

  • Today's contest marks the 22nd all-time meeting between these programs, with Sacred Heart holding a 15-4-2 advantage in the head-to-head series. 
  • The last time they met, back on October 6, 2019, the game ended in a 2-2 draw after two overtimes couldn't decide a victor. 
  • In that contest, Annie White scored Wagner's first goal in the match in the 57' minute before former Seahawk Maria Nunez evened the score on a penalty kick in the 90' minute. 
  • Wagner is 4-3-1 in their last eight meetings with the Pioneers. 
  • The Seahawks last picked up a home victory over SHU on October 30, 2015, a 1-0 decision. 

White and Hughes Named To NEC Prime Performers List... 
  • The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced its weekly honors on Tuesday afternoon. 
  • Junior defender Annie White and freshman goalkeeper Sam Hughes were tabbed to the NEC Prime Performers list. 
  • White netted what turned out to be the game-winner against UAlbany in the 81st minute. 
  • Hughes, making her first home start for the Seahawks, was credited with eight saves on 25 shots faced in picking up her first career win.
