Princeton, NJ -- The Wagner men's water polo team concluded their trip at Princeton University on Saturday morning, dropping a 16-10 contest to #18 Harvard. The Seahawks finished the weekend with a 2-1 record while splitting against the ranked opponents they faced.
The contest got off to a fast start with the teams combining for six goals in the first eight minutes of play. The Crimson gained a slight edge in the second quarter outscoring the Seahawks 4-2 in the frame. Sophomore Zsombor Gyemant tallied four goals on nine shots as he led the Green & White in scoring. Junior Oliver Fodor continued the strong start to his season tallying two goals on eight shots.
Harvard outscored Wagner 6-3 in the third, carrying a 13-8 lead heading into the final frame. Harvard kept the Seahawks at bay in the fourth quarter on its way to the four-goal win, moving to 2-0 against the Green and White on the young season.
The Seahawks concluded their weekend with a 3-5 record on the season. They will travel to Lewisburg, PA for the Bison Invitational on the Campus of Bucknell University next weekend. On Saturday, Sept. 18 and Sunday, Sept. 19. This tournament will kick off MAWPC play for Wagner as they will face off against the hosts Bucknell and Fordham University to begin conference play.
