Springfield, MA – Members of the Wagner College men's and women's outdoor track and field team participated in the 2021 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on the campus of American International College this weekend.
On the men's side, the Seahawks tied the host American International with 27 points to finish ninth out of 32 teams. Navy won the team title with 191 points. Army West Point (119) and Northeastern (49) rounded out the top three schools.
Michael Pepe took second overall in the discus throw, finishing with a heave of 53.19m while Lutfi Pocesta launched the hammer 58.50m to take third overall in the event.
The 4x400 relay time of
Joshua Cadet,
Cyril Babcanec,
William Cuthbertson, and
Thomas Corel took fourth with a time of 3:16.53. The 4x100 squad, composed of
Ryan Lane,
Joshua Cadet,
Josiah Cadet, and Babcanec set a new school record in the event, crossing the finish line in sixth with a time of 41.57.
The mark set by the quartet breaks the previous school record, set five years ago by Dylan Beard, Michael Songore, Jordan Davenport, and Quincy Rasin, as they clocked in with a time of 41.65 on April 29, 2017, at the 123rd Penn Relays.
Josiah Cadet took sixth in the 400H with a time of 53.75 while
Joshua Cadet concluded the 200m in tenth place with a time of 22.09.
Lane finished among the top-20 competitors in the pole vault, as he posted a finals mark of 4.33m. Anthony Bentivegna placed among the top-20 in the 10K field, clocking in with a time of 30:58.36 while
Andrew Ramsammy finished seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.95m.
Corel and Babcanec finished among the top-20 in the 400m finals, as Corel posted a time of 49.66 while Babcanec concluded the race in 50.05.
On the women's side,
Anna Greentree produced a top-ten finish in the 800m run, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:11.10.
Sara Rutherford competed in the 400m, crossing the finish line with a time of 57.51.
Tiffany Hanna finished sixth in the discus with a toss of 44.77m while placing among the top-15 in the hammer throw with a throw of 47.10m.
The 4x400 relay squad of
Sofia Garcia, Rutherford,
Mia Milton, and Greentree checked in with a time of 3:56.27 to place sixth in the event.
