Vogler’s Grand Slam Helps Wagner Earn Split Against Bryant

Staten Island, NY - Junior Mackenzie Vogler's grand slam in the third inning of game one in Saturday's doubleheader against Bryant helped the Seahawks to a 6-3 victory, as the two teams split Saturday's doubleheader.

Wagner won three out of four games of the weekend series against Bryant, as the Bulldogs took game two by a score of 7-0.

Game 1 Recap: Wagner 6-3 Bryant

Junior Eve Harvey picked up her second complete game victory of the weekend, striking out seven while only allowing two earned runs and seven hits.

After the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the second, junior Nora Conway and graduate student Zoe Bender both recorded hits to start the third inning. Freshman Keaghan Ward tied the game with an RBI double, before graduate student Amelia Van Orman was hit by a pitch, which loaded the bases.

Two batters later, Vogler sent the ball flying over the left field fence, giving Wagner a 5-1 lead.
Bryant cut the deficit to 5-3 with two runs in the fifth, before another RBI by Ward extended the lead to 6-3 in the sixth.
The Seahawks recorded 11 hits as a team, as Ward lead the way with three hits, while Conway, Bender, and sophomore Bianca Worthy recorded two hits apiece.

Game 2 Recap: Bryant 7-0 Wagner

The Seahawks combined for six hits throughout the contest, with Bender recording a team-high three hits.

Conway, Worthy, and freshman Scarlett Lloyd also had hits throughout the contest.

Van Orman suffered the loss after earning the win over the Bulldogs yesterday, while junior Kayla Hooks also saw action in the circle.

Bryant scored three runs in the fourth, before a Jenna Gardner grand slam made it 7-0, as Gardner led the team with six RBIs.

Next up, Wagner will continue its homestand with doubleheaders against Sacred Heart on April 10 and 11.
