Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College softball team dropped two tightly contested games to Sacred Heart on Saturday, as the Seahawks fell 1-0 in game one before losing game two by a score of 7-5.
With the two losses, Wagner drops to 9-9 overall and 5-9 in Northeast Conference (NEC) action, while the Pioneers move to 8-10 overall and 6-4 in NEC play.
Due to inclement weather in the forecast, tomorrow's doubleheader has been postponed.

In the second and fifth inning, the Seahawks advanced a runner to third, but could not get a run across the plate, as the Pioneers took the lead on an RBI single by Emily Carroll in the fourth, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Game 2 Recap: Sacred Heart 7-5 Wagner
The Seahawks hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning for the first multi-home run game of the season, but it wasn't enough, as Sacred Heart earned the 7-5 victory.
After the Pioneers scored one run in the first and three runs in the top of the third, the Seahawks answered, as RBI singles by Bender and Ward cut the deficit in half at 4-2 in the bottom half of the third inning.
Sacred Heart added three more runs in the fourth inning, before Ward hit first home run of her collegiate career, a two-run shot to right center field, making it 7-4 in the fifth inning. On the very next pitch, Del Ponte sent the ball flying deep to left field to make it a 7-5 game, but Sacred Heart hung on for the victory late.
Ward led the Seahawks with three hits, as the Seahawks combined for nine hits throughout the contest.
In the circle, Van Orman suffered the loss after pitching five innings, with Harvey also tossing two innings in relief.
