Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's outdoor track and field team competed in its third event of the season as the Seahawks hosted the Wagner College Invite on a rain-filled, Sunday at Hameline Field at Wagner College Stadium.
In all, the Seahawks posted six first-place finishes.
Dominic Palermo crossed the finish line first in the 5000m run with a time of 15:11.24 while
Thomas Corel took first in the 400m dash with a time of 49.03.
In the 800m run, four Seahawks finished among the top-ten, led by
William Cuthbertson, who checked in with a time of 1:53.60.
Trausti Thorsteins was next at 1:54.59.
Mahmoud Abdalla and
Muhammad Qadri rounded out the finishes in the event, with times of 51.18 and 53.27, respectively.
Josiah Cadet was the lone competitor in the 400H, as he posted a time of 55.50. He also placed second in the 110H with a time of 15.45.
The Green & White secure the top spot in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay events. In the 4x100, the quartet of Babcanec, Joshua, and
Josiah Cadet, along with
Logan Murphey posted a time of 42.20.
The 4x400 team made up of Babcanec,
Joshua Cadet, Cuthbertson and Corel, finished the race with a finals time of 3:23.85.
Field Results…
- Ryan Lane cleared 3.95m in the pole vault to take second.
- He also competed in the triple jump, where he leaped 12.89m.
- Keegan Reidy cleared 11.95m in the triple jump.
- Andrew Ramsammy soared 6.15m in the long jump to finish sixth.
Other Notable Performances…
- Anthony Bentivegna concluded the 5000m race in second with a time of 15:13.17.
- Joshua Cadet placed second in the 200m with a time of 21.98.
- Abdalla and Qadri placed second and third, respectively, in the 1500m run, as Abdalla clocked in at 4:08.47 and Qadri at 4:08.97.
- Babcanec added a second-place showing in the 400m dash with a time of 50.26.
- Murphey placed fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.57.
The Seahawks will close out the outdoor regular season on Friday, April 16 as they will compete at the Mount St. Mary's Invite.
