Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team opened its 2021 season with two convincing victories, shutting out Colgate 6-0 and 8-0 on Saturday.

Eve Harvey pitched a complete game shutout, only allowing six hits while striking out six batters in the process.
The Seahawks got on the board in the fourth, as junior catcher
Mackenzie Vogler opened the scoring with an RBI single to left. Next up, senior
Alexis Silinonte and junior Mackenzie Miller hit consecutive RBI singles to push Wagner's lead to 3-0.
In the fifth, freshman
Scarlett Lloyd came through with a pinch hit two-run single to center field in her first collegiate at-bat to extend the lead to 5-0.

Game 2 Recap: Wagner 8-0 Colgate (5 innings)
The second game of the afternoon once again featured dominant pitching by the Seahawks, as graduate student
Amelia Van Orman tossed a complete game shutout, holding Colgate to just three hits in five innings.
The Seahawks took an early lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Lloyd which scored Bender to make it 1-0.
In the third, Van Orman added to her stellar performance in the circle with a two-run triple, with Ward bringing her home on an RBI single one batter later to give the Seahawks a 4-0 advantage.
Wagner tacked on four insurance runs in the fourth on an RBI double by junior
Breanna Thompson, and RBI single by Bender, and an RBI double by Van Orman, as the Seahawks earned the doubleheader sweep over Colgate.
Offensively, Van Orman finished with a team-high four RBIs, while Bender led the way with three hits and three runs.
Next up, the Seahawks will take on Lafayette on Sunday, March 14, with first pitch set for noon.
