Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's tennis team will close out their fall slate of matches this weekend.
The Seahawks will welcome the Fordham University Rams to the Wagner Tennis Courts on Saturday, October 9, for an 11:00 a.m. match.
The Green & White concludes the weekend against the New Jersey City University (NJCU) Gothic Knights on Sunday, October 10 at 5:00 p.m. This contest will be contested at the College of Staten Island (CSI) tennis courts with NJCU serving as the hosts.
Last Time Out For Wagner…
- The Seahawks dropped its season opener at Monmouth, 7-0, back on September 22.
- The pairing of Rodrigo Perez and Aryan Gupta picked up the lone win of the afternoon for the Green & White, defeating Arthur Dussaubat and Christof Zeiler, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.
Scouting The Opponents…
Fordham
- Saturday will be the Rams season opener.
- In the condensed 2020-21 season, Fordham went 6-6 overall and was 1-0 against Northeast Conference (NEC) opponents, defeating Sacred Heart, 7-0, back on March 7.
New Jersey City University
- The Gothic Knights are 1-0 on the season after posting a 9-0 win on the road at FDU-Florham back on September 15.
- The pairing of Theo Bourghelle and Nico Teynie advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championship, held at Hobart College, where Skidmore's Brendan Jimenez and Zachary Portnoy, edged out the duo, 8-7.
