Bronx, New York – The Wagner men's water polo team dropped a Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) tilt to no. 16 ranked Fordham, 12-8, on Friday night.

Mattia Bognolo opened the scoring a powerplay goal 37 seconds into the contest to give Wagner the lead. The hosts finished the opening stanza on a 3-1 run to end the first quarter with a 3-2 cushion. Fifth-year
Jack Leighton converted a powerplay opportunity for the second Wagner goal of the opening frame.
The second stanza followed the theme of the first quarter, the Rams built a 5-2 lead before
Mattia Bognolo found the back of the net for the second time in the contest brining the score to 5-3, the closest Wagner would get to Fordham for the rest of the contest. The hosts held a 6-4 advantage heading into the second half.
Fordham put a stamp on the match in the third quarter, outscoring Wagner 4-2 in the frame, ending the quarter with 10-6 lead. Both squads found the back of the net twice in the fourth quarter, sealing a 12-8 victory for Fordham.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Green & White and the Rams defeated the Seahawks for the second time this season.
Mattia Bognolo, sophomore Zsombor Gyemant, and
Jack Leighton each scored twice while junior Oliver Fodor scored once and drew nine exclusions. Senior netminder
Ethan Zirh stopped 10 shots in the loss.
The Seahawks will have the rest of the weekend off before hosting MAWPC foe Johns Hopkins on Saturday, October 30 for senior day at 4:00 P.M. at the Spiro Sports Center.
