Cambridge, MA – The Wagner men's water polo team concluded the first day of the Harvard Invite on Saturday as they split the first two games of the event.
The Seahawks defeated Connecticut College, 21-7 in the opening game of the tournament before falling to the hosts, Harvard University, 15-9.

The Green & White put a stamp on the contest right away, outscoring the Camels 6-0 in the opening stanza. Junior Oliver Fodor and freshman
Mattia Bognolo accounted for two goals apiece while sophomore's Zsombor Gyemant and
Ryan Lanier found the back of the net once each in the first quarter.
Wagner carried that momentum into the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 3-1 in the second quarter and taking a 9-1 advantage into halftime.
The Camels best quarter was the third, they outscored Wagner 5-4 in the frame that included a 5-0 to bring the game to 13-7 with seven minutes remaining in the contest. Six goals was the closest the Camels would get to the Seahawks, as the Green & White ended the contest on an 8-0 run.
Wagner had seven different players with multiple goals in their highest scoring game of the season. Junior
Shaked Yacoby anchored the Seahawks attack with four goals while Oliver Fodor,
Ryan Lanier, and fifth-year
Jack Leighton each tallied hat tricks. Senior goalkeeper
Ethan Zirh and junior
Kevin Roach split time in between the pipes as Zirh tallied three saves and Roach stopped six shots in the victory.

The Green & White battled the host Crimson in their second game of the day. After a back-and-forth opening quarter, Harvard held a 3-2 lead after the first. The hosts put a stamp on the contest in the second quarter when they outscored the Green & White 7-1 to take a 10-3 advantage into the break.
The Seahawks doubled the crimson goal total in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts 4-2. Harvard took a 12-7 lead into the final stanza and that was enough for the Crimson to run away with the 15-9 victory.

Jack Leighton powered the Seahawks attack with two goals each,
Mattia Bognolo dished out two assists to go along with four steals. Netminder
Ethan Zirh tallied nine saves in the loss.
The Seahawks will conclude the Harvard Invite on Sunday, October 16 when they battle MIT at 9:15 A.M. before concluding their trip against Brown at 3:30 P.M.
