Claremont, California – The Wagner men's water polo team concluded the first day of the Gary Troyer Tournament in California as they split the first two games of the event.
#14 Santa Clara (10) vs. Wagner (8)
The opening stanza was a back-and-forth affair as the teams traded two goals apiece. Junior Oliver Fodor got back on track with two goals in the first quarter. The second frame followed suit as the teams traded two goals apiece. The first half ended knotted at four.
The Broncos put a stamp on the contest in the third quarter as they outscored the Seahawks 5-3 in the quarter. Sophomore Zsombor Gyemant got on the scoresheet in the third frame and Oliver Fodor added two more to his goal total in the contest. The teams battled in a low-scoring quarter that totaled one goal from each side.
Junior
Ethan Zirh tallied 10 saves; Oliver Fodor continued his strong season netting four goals while drawing four exclusions. Freshman
Mattia Bognolo swiped three passes along with tallying one assist in the loss.

The afternoon contest for the Seahawks began at a rapid pace. Whittier held a 4-3 lead after the opening stanza as junior Oliver Fodor tallied a hat trick. The theme continued in the second stanza except this time the Seahawks outscored the Poets 4-3 this time. Fodor continued anchoring the Seahawks offense as he found the back of the net to open the second frame.
The Green & White put a stamp on the contest in the second half as they outscored Whittier 6-1 in the second half to separate themselves on the scoreboard. Freshman

Kyle Chambers had a career high four goals to go along with two steals. Junior netminder tallied eight saves in his seventh victory between the pipes for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks will conclude their west coast swing at the Gary Troyer Tournament on Saturday as they will take on Chapman University at 2:30 P.M. and Pomonza Pitzer at 6:15 P.M.
